Sanitary Sewer Improvement Road Closure, Oct. 31

The City of Coos Bay authorized Mortenson Construction to install a sanitary sewer mainline on South Empire Blvd between Pacific Avenue and Fulton Avenue. The crew will commence with construction beginning Monday, October 31th. The project duration is approximately three weeks. For safety reasons, this work will require closing the north bound lane of South Empire Blvd between Pacific Avenue and Fulton Avenue. North Bound traffic on South Empire Blvd will be detoured onto South Marple at Fulton Avenue and then back onto South Empire Blvd at Pacific Avenue during construction.  The detour will be in effect weekdays with two-way traffic restored on weekends. Pedestrian access to the east side of South Empire Blvd between Pacific Avenue and Fulton Avenue will be closed from October 31 to November 21 with a suggested pedestrian detour route on Marple Street. The construction crew will take all precautions and necessary actions to minimize the disturbance to surrounding residents and vehicles. The Contractor will work with the residents to ensure safe entry and exiting during the road closure; however, they will experience delays. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to please exercise caution within the construction zone. Any questions can be directed to the City of Coos Bay’s Public Works Department at 541-269-8918.
