2014 Coos County Master Gardener™ Program Offers Scholarships, Feb. 24

The Coos County Master Gardener Association will honor Coos County high school graduates and current county residents wishing to further his or her education in a plant-related field. The field of study might include agriculture, biology, botany, biochemistry, entomology, forestry, horticulture, or landscape design.  Scholarships totaling $7,000.00 will be awarded for the academic year 2014-2015. The Coos County Master Gardener Scholarship Committee meet, interview applicants, and then determine the number and amount of awards annually.  Requirements for either scholarship type:  Completed application; Official college transcript(s), if applicable; Acceptance letter to a college or university; Two current (written within the last 12 months) letters of recommendation, dated and signed; Interview with Coos County Master Gardener Scholarship Committee
Additional requirements for the soon-to-be Coos County high school graduate/equivalent applicant:  Official high school transcript or copy of your high school diploma or equivalent; Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better; One of the two current recommendation letters should be from an instructor; Deadline:  April 11, 2014: Completed application must be postmarked no later than this date.  Funding:  Upon receipt of proof of acceptance at the college or university of the applicant’s choice, funds will be disbursed directly to the college or university business office and applied to the student’s tuition or books.  Application Link: http://extension.oregonstate.edu/coos/Mg/MGScholarshipProgram
