Only one bidder made Tuesday’s (Nov. 15) deadline to submit a bid for the purchase of the State of Oregon owned Elliott State Forest, located in portions of Coos and Douglas counties. Lone Rock Timber of Roseburg, and the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians worked together to come up with a bid of $220.8 million for the 82,500 acres of forest. The Cow Creek Band would reportedly pay about $16 million and Lone Rock the balance. There is opposition to the “Privatization of the Elliott” sale. The State Land Board will meet on Dec. 13 in Salem to take public testimony over the proposal.
