Crab Strike Over, Jan. 9

The six-day commercial Dungeness Crab strike is over.  Following negotiations between processors, fisherman and state officials Thursday, an opening price of $2.875 was settled upon sending boats from Brookings to Astoria to sea and to officially begin the state’s most lucrative fishing industry.  Fishermen reportedly wanted $3 a pound, but processors were only offering $2.75 leading to the boat tie up.
