On April 6, 2017 at about 3:30 am, Oregon State Police Troopers and Lane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Marcola Road near milepost 13. (Marcola area). The preliminary investigation revealed a red 1999 Ford Mustang, operated by 24 year old Marcola local, Chadley Crespo, and passenger, 27 year old Marcola resident, Rian Moore, were traveling southbound on Marcola Road near milepost 13. The Mustang traveled over the oncoming lane, crashed into a driveway access, and ended on its passenger side. The driver, Crespo was transported to a Springfield area hospital for serious injuries. The passenger, Moore was killed as a result of the crash and was not wearing safety restraints at the time of the crash. This is an ongoing criminal investigation and alcohol is a contributing factor. OSP was assisted on scene by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and the Lane County District Attorney’s Office.
