Marshfield finished the first half of the 2018 4A Far West League girls basketball race unbeaten with a showdown win at Brookings-Harbor Friday night. The top-ranked Lady Pirates won 49-41, handing the Bruins their first league loss. Douglas moved into third place with a 42-29 win at North Bend, and South Umpqua bettered Siuslaw in Florence to grab fourth place. The league has a bye on Tuesday. Next Friday, Siuslaw (0-5, 3-16) travels to Marshfield (5-0, 17-2), So. Umpqua (2-3, 8-10) at North Bend (1-4, 5-13), and Brookings-Harbor (4-1, 10-9) travels to Douglas (3-2, 10-8).
