Teen Arrested in Douglas Co. Pursuit, April 3

On Sunday, April 1, 2018, at 2:25 pm, a deputy observed a Dodge pickup being operated by a male at Carnes Road and Del Mar Drive. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver failed to stop and attempted to elude. The deputy pursued the driver down Austin Road. The short pursuit ended when the driver crashed the pickup into the river. The driver was later identified as a 14 year-old Winston juvenile who was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the pursuit. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to Mercy Medical Center for evaluation where he was later released. The juvenile was transported to the Douglas County Juvenile Detention facility where he was lodged for Attempt to Elude in Vehicle and Criminal Mischief. Additional charges are expected.
