Marshfield Girls Tennis team traveled to Willamette on Wednesday and came away with a tie 4-4. In number one doubles Desiree Guiardo and Braeden Kennedy beat the team Amanda Jester and Marisa Soriano in a rematch 6-3. 6-4, a duo they had lost to earlier in the season. “This was one of their best matches of the season.” Marshfield Coach Aron Boesl. The Pirates lost the two through four doubles matches, though the number two and four matches were close. At number two Sara Springael and Emily Sigloh lost in a third set match breaker 6-4, 2-6, 4-10. To Caitlyn Meng and Emily Stone. Katrina Garcia and Shasta Banks lost to Ashley Gray and Maggie McCaughland 0-6, 1-6. At number three Patrizia Cugnetto and Madison Brugnoli lost to Viviana Gonzalez and Chloe Toney 4-6, 4-6 in a tough match. “Madison and Patrizia showed great sportsmanship in this match”. On the singles side Katie Boesl beat Jessica VanDiense 7-5, 6-3, Colleen Rayburn beat Casey Leslie 6-0, 6-2, Lindsay Brown won her match against Vanessa Garcia in an injury shortened match. Lindsay won the first match 6-2 and was ahead 3-2 in the second when the Willamette player injured her ankle. In her first varsity singles match Bry Carrreno lost 2-6, 2-6 to Baily Thorn in the number four spot.
