Coast Guard medevacs teen from Rogue National Forest, Aug. 8

SEATTLE – Coast Guard crews medevaced a teenager Thursday evening from a western Oregon forest.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Bend command center were notified at 4:15 p.m. by Curry County dispatch that a 17-year-old male had suffered a head injury after he fell from a cliff above the Rogue River near Marial, Oregon. Because the area was inaccessible by vehicle, the command center launched an MH-65 helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station North Bend. The aircrew arrived on scene at 5:45 p.m. and landed near Paradise Lodge. The rescue crew put the injured teen on a stretcher and carried him to the helicopter. The aircraft touched down at 7:15 p.m. at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, where the person was transferred to medical personnel. The patient’s current medical condition is unknown.
