Country Media Inc., which bought the Curry Coastal Pilot in Brookings, and the Del Norte Triplicate in Crescent City, CA last July, has announced an agreement to purchase The World newspaper in Coos Bay, and it’s weekly newspapers Western World in Bandon and the Umpqua Post in Reedsport. The sale is expected to close Jan. 31, 2020. The World has been owned by Lee Enterprises Inc. of Davenport, Iowa. Country Media is described as a 20-year old Oregon family-owned company with central offices in Salem. The company also owns the News Guard in Lincoln City, Tillamook Headlight & Herald in Tillamook, and other papers in Manzanita, Cannon Beach and St. Helens.
