On Monday, October 17, 2022 at approximately 11:20 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Hwy 26 near milepost 32. Preliminary investigation revealed an eastbound white Volvo commercial motor vehicle, operated by Edgar Clark Jr. (62) of Troutdale, struck a pedestrian, identified as Herman Neal IV (32) of Welches, who was in the eastbound lane. It is not known why Neal was in the roadway. Neal IV sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Hwy 26 was affected for approximately 4 hours while the OSP Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the scene. OSP was assisted by Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and ODOT.
