Winston – ODOT release – ROSEBURG – Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, April 29, on a pair of projects that will bring local sidewalks into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. In Roseburg, sidewalk curb ramps on both sides of Oregon 138E (Diamond Lake Blvd.) will be replaced between NE Bogard Street and NE Patterson Street. In Winston, curb ramps will be replaced along both sides of Oregon 42 (Coos Bay-Roseburg Highway) from Brantley Drive to Old Highway 99. During construction, motorists can expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures along both highways. Flaggers will provide traffic control as needed. Access for pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will be maintained at all intersections throughout the work zone. Freedom Builders is the prime contractor for the $71,748 Winston project, while Hybrid Construction is building the $91,404 Roseburg project. Both are scheduled for completion by June 30. The projects are the result of a settlement agreement that requires ODOT to bring more than 25,000 non-compliant curb ramps throughout Oregon up to current federal accessibility guidelines within 15 years.
