A reported robbery occurred December 21, 2015 at the Deer Island Scales and Oregon State Police is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying those involved. According to Senior Trooper Robin May, Oregon State Police St. Helens worksite, Charles E. RICE, age 60 from St. Helens stopped his black Chevy pickup near the Deer Island Scales to assist a disabled motorist when he was robbed and assaulted and eventually helped by a Good Samaritan. This incident occurred on US Highway 30 near milepost 33, between the hours of 5:45 a.m. to 7:20 a.m. on December 21, 2015. Suspect vehicle is described as a dark colored Toyota type SUV, unknown Idaho license plates and displayed a decal with a stick figure family with an adult, an animal and two kids on the left corner of the rear window referencing a dysfunctional family. Suspect is described as a white male approximately mid 20’s, 5’10, with slicked back blond hair, a large round ear lobe piercing, wearing a camouflage jacket with dark fur around the hood and black cargo style pants. The Oregon State Police is asking for the public’s assistance with locating the suspect, the suspect’s vehicle, the Good Samaritan and anyone who may have seen the suspect vehicle on Monday morning parked at the Deer Island Scales.
