In the early morning hours on February 23, 2017, the Oregon State Police responded to a call of a male on Interstate 5 near milepost 34 in Jackson County. The subject was eventually located, had injuries and was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center for treatment. There are additional law enforcement personnel in the area of Gold Hill attempting to locate possible suspect(s). First update: The victim of the assault has been identified as 43 year old CHRISTOPHER APPLEGATE from the Central Point area and remains in the hospital. No further information is available at this time. Final update: On June 2, 2017, Aaron Dale EATON, age 40, of Phoenix, was arrested and lodged at the Jackson County Jail on the following charges: Attempted Murder, Kidnapping 2, Robbery I, Assault 1, Assault 2, Unlawful use of a Weapon, Felon in possession of a firearm, Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
