CCSO release – On Saturday April 10, 2021, at about 10:54 AM, Coos County Dispatch received a report of an assault, at 56568 Christopher Road in Bandon. The caller reported that 40 year old Joshua Dylan Rice was on drugs and had hit her with a club or a stick. Due to Deputies being out of the area, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Bandon Police Department. Upon the Bandon Police Department’s arrival, The Officer observed a male with a large stick run into the woods near the residence. Deputies arrived and spoke with the Caller, who did have injuries and stated she had been hit with a large hardwood stick. A K-9 was requested to track the suspect. K-9 Raven and Deputy Boswell arrived and started tracking Joshua. After a considerable distance, Joshua was located back on Christopher Road, near the residence. After a short foot pursuit and an altercation with Raven and Deputy Boswell, Joshua was taken into custody. Joshua was transported to the Hospital and then to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked into the jail on the charges of Assault 2 Domestic, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Resisting Arrest and Interfering with a Law-enforcement Animal.
