News release CCSO. On 03/05/17 at approximately 11:00 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 43850 Hwy 242 in Powers after receiving a report of a disturbance in progress occurring at that location. Upon arrival Deputies learned that a woman. (50 year old Rachelle Hockett of Powers) had been assaulted by Richard B. Butler 48 YOA of Powers. It was learned Mr. Butler fled from the location on foot, possibly to a barn in the area. Deputies used a police canine named Odin to locate Mr. Butler who was charged with Assault IV (Domestic), Menacing, Harassment and Interfering with a Police Animal. Mr. Butler was transported to the Coquille Valley Hospital for bite injuries inquired when he kicked K-9 Odin and was later transported to the Coos County Jail. The victim declined medical treatment at the scene.
