On January 25, 2017, at approximately 2042 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Bay Area Hospital, Coos Bay, Coos County, Oregon, regarding a victim of an assault that had come into the ER. Deputies contacted the victim, Debra Lynn Peters, age 58, of Coos Bay, who had been transported to Bay Area Hospital with one and a half inches of the cartilage of her left ear cut completely through. Deputies learned that Ms. Peters and her significant other David Wayne Cannon, age 59, of Coos Bay, had been arguing all day long and that during the argument Mr. Cannon threw and objet at her and struck her in the side of the head injuring her ear. It took some time for Ms. Peters to be able to leave the residence but was finally able to. Deputies then contacted Mr. Cannon and he was arrested for Assault IV – Domestic and was transported to Coos County Jail where he was booked and lodged.
