The 6A Southwest Football Conference has one less team to schedule this Fall. South Eugene has pulled its tackle football program due to a lack of numbers. Eighteen signed up, but only 16 have made the team conditioning practices forcing coaches and the administration to throw an early flag on the 2021 prep season for the Axe. School officials blame partially the pandemic, work commitments, families, and academic uncertainties as all playing a role in the decision. The move leaves five teams in the SW Conference for the 2021 season.
