Barn Dance at Greenacres, Nov. 8

NewGrass Musicians at the November 9 Barn Dance
The November Contra Dance will be held on Saturday the 9th at the Greenacres Grange Hall.  Tashina Clarridge and Simon Chrisman are widely known as two of the three musicians in “The Bee Eaters,” one of the most innovative and exciting groups in the “NewGrass” genre of music that has been developing now for years.  Tashina and Simon are also very accomplished dance musicians who will provide a spirited and creative fusion of dance tunes from a variety of musical roots to the delight of all.  Calling will be Greg McKenzie who is known on the West Coast for his clear and precise calling style that sweeps in first-time dancers quickly and gives center stage to the music.   All are welcome at the Barn Dance and no prior experience, special clothing, or partner is needed to join the fun.  A beginner’s workshop will be taught starting at 7pm.  First timers who arrive in time for this instruction will receive a ticket for free admission to their second dance.  The Second-Saturday Barn Dance is sponsored by the non-profit South Coast Folk Society.  The program includes contras, circle mixers, a waltz or two, and squares.  Refreshments are available.  Doors open at 6:45PM.  Admission:  General $7, Students w/ID and Seniors over 60 $6, Members $5, and Supervised Children under 6 are free.  The dances are alcohol and fragrance free.  For more information call 541-572-5370 or visit http://southcoastfolksociety.wordpress.com  or Facebook.  The South Coast Folk Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, study, teaching, enjoyment, and continuing evolution of traditional and historical.
