Buckskin Fire, June 15

The Buckskin Fire of Southwest Oregon has blackened nearly 1,200 acres near the Oregon-California border in Curry Co. over the weekend. The lighting-caused fire is burning southeast of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, about six-miles north of the California Border in the Baldface Creek Area. More than 100 firefighters are working to contain the wildfire. Wildfire fire stats from the Oregon Dept. of Forestry: January 1, 2015, through today: Lightning-caused fires: 70 fires burned 166 acres; Human-caused fires: 156 fires burned 339 acres; Total: 226 fires burned 505 acres.
