The Coos Bay Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in the Bunker Hill District early Tuesday morning. The fire at 63776 Ellen Rd. was called in to the 9-1-1 center by neighbors at 7:23 a.m. When fire crews arrived at 7:29 a.m., they found a rapidly growing fire in the Northeast corner of a Storage shed/garage. Firefighters had the fire under control within ten minutes, but the complete extinguishment took more time due to excessive contents and structural voids or spaces inside the wall. The damage to the building and contents was estimated to be less than $2,000. The fire was caused by an overloaded electrical circuit that was powering several appliances including a Recreational Vehicle that was parked next to the garage. The property is owned by Margo Nix of Coos Bay. This is the second fire at the address this year. In February, the Coos Bay Fire Department extinguished a camp trailer that was parked on the premises.
