News release Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office.  On 10/9/2016 at about 10:28 PM, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a possible burglary of a detached garage on Caraway Lane, Coos Bay.  It was reported by the home owners; Mr. and Mrs. Trelford that they had located a man coming from the garage of their residence and chased him off.  While awaiting the arrival of police, the homeowners checked a second residence on the property and found that it had also been broken into.  When the Sheriff’s Deputy arrived he began speaking to Mr. Trelford and obtaining details of what occurred another family member came running up to them telling them that Mrs. Trelford had located the suspect and was now involved in an altercation down the road from the victim’s residence with the male suspect. The Sheriff’s Deputy ran down the road to where the suspect and Mrs. Trelford were at and upon attempting to place the male suspect into custody the man refused and instead wanted to fight with the Deputy.  The Deputy eventually had to deploy his Taser and upon the arrival of a second deputy, the male was taken into custody.  The deputy had to deploy his Taser on a couple of occasions before he was subdued and handcuffed. The suspect refused to identify himself although he is believed to be Richard Lee Wright, age 35, LKA of Keizer, Oregon.  Coos County Jail Deputies are attempting to confirm his identity at this time. After being examined by medical staff the burglary suspect was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was lodged on charges of Burglary II, Burglary I (Attempt), Criminal Mischief II and Resisting Arrest.
