On October 6, 2016 the unidentified remains which were found on October 1, 2016 by a fisherman along the Umpqua River near Gardiner, Oregon were examined by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office. The preliminary findings show the partial remains to be that of a female, likely between the ages of 30 to 45. Due to the advanced state of decomposition of the partial remains, height, weight and ethnicity are currently unknown. It is believed that the female has been deceased between one to three years. The Medical Examiner’s investigation of the remains will continue, and will include an attempt to make identification through the use of DNA and dental records. This process will likely take a significant amount of time.
