CCSO report, Aug. 2

Menacing
Cooly Ln., CCSO release – On July 31 at approximately 10:12 PM, deputies were dispatched to a disturbance occurring at 92744 Cooly Lane in Coos Bay. While in route to the residence, Deputies were advised that a male subject was acting erratic, and in possession of a knife and possibly a firearm. When Deputies arrived, the male subject, 43 year old Joe W. Boyce had been detained by Oregon State Troopers who arrived to assist. Upon further investigation with the female victim, it was determined the she had been threatened multiple times, along with being thrown down and dragged through the house. The female victim stated many times that she was in fear of her life by Boyce having a large hunting knife in his hand while he did this. Prior to Deputies arrival, Boyce hid the knife as it was evidence of the crime.Given Boyce’s responses to Deputies questions and overall mental state, he was transported to Bay Area Hospital for mental evaluation. Upon clearance, Boyce was transported to Coos County Jail where he was lodged.
