Probation Violation
Beacon Road, CCSO news release.  On February 4th, 2018 at 6:58pm, a Deputy with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office casually contacted a male riding a bicycle north bound on Cape Arago Highway near Beacon Road, Coos Bay, Oregon. The male identified himself as Jacob S. Potter, 28 years old of Coos Bay. The Deputy checked Jacob S. Potter through the state and national database. The Deputy was advised by the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center, Jacob S. Potter, was on probation through Coos County Corrections for sex crimes. The deputy learned Jacob S. Potter had changed residences and had not registered as a sex offender at the new address. Jacob S. Potter’s probation officer authorized a detainer. Jacob S. Potter was arrested without issue and transported to the Coos County Jail. Jacob S. Potter was lodged for a probation violation only. Jacob S. Potter will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office for Failure to register as a Sex Offender.

Mother/Daughter Assault
McKenna Lane, CCSO news release.  On February 3, 2018 at approximately 5:44 pm, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to 93643 McKenna Lane for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, Deputies located 32-year old Cassandra Landis, Coos Bay, who was 8 months pregnant, outside of the residence with apparent injuries. Cassandra reported that she was attacked, including being kneed in the stomach, by her biological mother who was currently living with her and her boyfriend. Cassandra was transported via ambulance to Bay Area Hospital for medical treatment. Fifty-two year old Rebecca Landis, Coos Bay, was located inside the residence and arrested. Rebecca was charged with two counts of Felony Assault IV and one count of Reckless Endangering. Rebecca was transported to the Coos County Jail where she is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.

Theft in the First Degree
Hwy. 42-South, CCSO news release.  On February 4th, 2018 at 8:33pm, deputies responded to 95147 Highway 42S, Coquille, Coos County, Oregon, to take a report of a theft. Prior to the Deputy’s arrival, they were advised the owner of the property had locked his gate, to keep the suspect on the property till Deputies arrived. Upon the deputy’s arrival, it was learned Frank W. Rossi, 66 years old of Eugene, Oregon, had dropped a female off at the property. Deputies were advised while waiting for the female to come back outside, Frank W. Rossi, attempted to steal a tractor radiator and scrap metal. Frank W. Rossi, consented to a vehicle search and stolen property was located. Frank W. Rossi was placed under arrest without issue and transported to the Coos County Jail for Theft in the First Degree, a Class C Felony. Frank W. Rossi’s bail was set at $25,000.00.

Kidnapping
Wygant Road, CCSO news release.  On February 6, 2018 the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a call for assistance at about 4:34 am. A neighbor on Wygant Road, in the Barview District of Coos Bay, reported suspicious circumstances surrounding a residence there. The Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Coquille Tribal Police and the Coos Bay Police Department responded to the scene. Once at the scene the investigation revealed the victim had been locked in the residence and her clothes torn from her. At this time the investigation is continuing and further details are not available. The deputy and assisting officers discovered the suspect; Kekoa O. Domen had an outstanding parole board warrant (having been released from prison recently) and took him into custody. During this portion of the arrest Mr. Domen began fighting the officers. During the melee one deputy sustained a minor injury to his nose. Kekoa Domen was taken to the Coos County Jail on the above charges with no bail for the parole violation warrant and $300,000 in bail for the remaining charges. No picture is available of Mr. Domen as he has not been cooperative with the Jail facility deputies for it to be completed.
