CCSO release – Date / Time: January 9th, 2024, 9:30 p.m.; Case Number(s): 2024-00000720; Classification: Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card / Theft II; Location: Coquille; Suspect(s): Mayea, Robert V. (55); Deputies arrest a man on probable cause from the Coquille Police Department on Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and Theft II. On January 9th, 2024, at 9:30 p.m., the Coquille Police Department contacted Deputy Z. Smith to assist in identifying a suspect in a large Fraud / Theft case. Deputy Z. Smith and Sgt. S. Moore recognized the individual from the photo provided as Robert V. Mayea (55). Deputy Z. Smith and Sgt. S. Moore contacted Robert, who confessed to the crimes. Robert V. Mayea (55) was arrested on Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card & Theft II charges. Robert was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and later released on his own recognizance.

Missing Person Located
CCSO release – Date / Time: January 9th, 2024, 9:21 p.m.; Case Number(s): 2024-00000699; Classification: Located Missing Person; Location: Sru Lake, Siskiyou National Forest; Deputy Baker locates a missing person in snow southeast of Sru Lake in the Siskiyou National Forest. On January 9th, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a man needing assistance southeast of Sru Lake in the Siskiyou National Forest. It was reported the man had become stuck in his vehicle which was disabled by heavy snowfall. The man reported a medical condition and had no food or adequate clothing. Deputy R. Baker responded to the area to search for the missing person. At 9:21 p.m., Deputy Baker located the man cold and hungry but otherwise in good spirits. Deputy Baker transported the man to Powers, where he received medical attention and was later driven home. If you are traveling this winter, please check your travel route before your trip. Keep extra food, water, and blankets with you, and ensure your friends and family know your route.
