On September 26th, 2019 at about 9:00pm, Taft 7-12 administration notified the Lincoln City Police Department of reported social media posts, which included indirect statements made by an unidentified individual concerning school safety. The Lincoln City Police school resource officer and detectives opened an investigation into this matter, subsequently identifying the juvenile responsible for creating the social media posts. This subject was taken into custody by LCPD detectives at about 1:30am and Lincoln County School District staff were notified of the arrest. The juvenile was charged with one count of Disorderly Conduct in the First Degree and later lodged at the Lincoln County Juvenile detention facility. Through LCPD’s investigation it was determined that the involved juvenile was not a student of Taft 7-12, and there is no longer a concern for safety.
