A 15-year old Brookings boy died Tuesday, Aug. 1, after falling from a seaside cliff while fishing with friends. The body of Dylan Speir was found after a search began about 4:30 p.m. for the overdue youth. He went fishing with friends at Chetco Point at the end of Tanbark Road about 4 p.m. The friends became separated and efforts to reach Speir by his cellphone went unanswered. His father located his body on a rocky ledge about 15-feet above the water. The US Coast Guard helped recover him.
