Domestic Menacing
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. “On 03/07/2014 at 12:53 pm, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Angela Thompson reporting a disturbance between she and her live-in boyfriend, Kurt Smith, that was occurring at 91025 Beacon Lane, Coos Bay. She reported that her boyfriend had a handgun and had fired one shot already. Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies, assisted by Coquille Tribal Police responded to the scene. Ms. Thompson reported that she had fled the residence with three minor children and was now at an offsite location where she was waiting to be contacted and interviewed. She reported that no one had been injured by the shot that had been fired. After gathering details, the deputies and tribal officer went to the residence where they contacted Kurt Smith, taking him into custody without incident. During a search of the residence the handgun that was used was located and seized. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the matter. Kurt Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Coos County Jail. Mr. Smith was lodged on four counts of Menacing, one charge being domestic in nature, and Unlawful Use of a Firearm. Mr. Smith’s bail is set at $65,000.00.”
