Jackie Erwin Rasberry II was sentenced to thirty-nine months in custody after two trials.  The sentence stems from events on January 6th, June 1st and June 2nd of 2011.  On January 6th, 2011 Rasberry was stopped by an Oregon State Trooper. During the stop Rasberry was found to be in possession of over an ounce of marijuana, over $500 in cash, digital scales and packaging materials. The defendant was charged with Unlawful Manufacture of Marijuana, Unlawful Delivery of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Rasberry was found guilty at trial on February 19th, 2014 of all charges. Given Rasberry’s criminal history, he was sentenced to twenty-four months department of corrections for the Unlawful Manufacture of Marijuana.  On June 1th, 2011 Rasberry was arrested on an outstanding warrant. During the stop Rasberry was found to be in possession of drug transaction records, prescription medications packaged for sale and over $300 in cash. The defendant was charged with Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. Rasberry was found guilty at trial on February 19th, 2014 of all charges. Given Rasberry’s criminal history, he was sentenced to twelve months department of corrections on the Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance.  On June 2nd, 2011 Rasberry falsely swore in an Affidavit of Eligibility and Request for Court-Appointed counsel. Rasberry attested he did not own any checking or savings accounts. SCINT conducted an investigation and warrant was obtained. It was determined at the time Rasberry made the statement he had at least $8000 in checking and savings accounts. The defendant was charged with perjury. Rasberry was found guilty at trial on February 27th, 2014 of False Swearing. The defendant was sentenced to ninety days to be served at the Coos County Jail.  Rasberry was released on his own recognizance on June 2nd, 2011. Rasberry failed to appear for a subsequent court date and a warrant was issued in September of 2011.  In November of 2013 members of the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Teams learned Rasberry was back in Coos County. Utilizing surveillance Rasberry was located. A stop was initiated, but Rasberry fled on foot from Coos Bay Police Officers and SCINT detectives. A foot chase ensued and Rasberry was apprehended. A warrant executed on the car rented and operated by Rasberry revealed marijuana and packaging materials. Charges for the November 2013 investigation have been referred to the Coos County District Attorney’s Office.  Rasberry was held to answer for 2011 charges.  SCINT encourages the public to report narcotics activity on the web by going to www.scint.us and “Report a Dealer”.
