News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. “On January 11, 2014 at about 5:01 AM the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Seaport RV Park at 63301 Boat Basin Road, Charleston. The caller reported hearing a man yelling for help inside the park. Charleston Fire Department, Bay Cities Ambulance and Sheriff’s Deputies responded and located a man who had been badly beaten with injuries to his face. The man was identified as Kent Manley, 48 years old, of Charleston and had been in his fifth wheel trailer in space 12 of the park when his son Sean (Mike) Stevenson, 27 years old, of Charleston began assaulting him and tearing up the fifth wheel trailer. The deputy learned some of the windows as well as the oven door glass had been ruptured and broken. Mr. Manley reported his son had been on top of him on his bed hitting him in the face. Mr. Manley said he then took a small knife and stabbed his son multiple times to get him off of him. Mr. Manley was transported by ambulance to Bay Area Hospital. Mr. Stevenson had fled after the assault and transported himself to Bay Area Hospital by private vehicle. The deputy learned the stab wounds to Mr. Stevenson were minor and non-life threatening. After being released from the hospital, Mr. Stevenson was allowed to go home and will be referred to the district attorney for the assault of his father. Mr. Manley upon release from the hospital was taken into custody for two outstanding warrants from Coos County for Assault IV and Harassment. Mr. Manley was taken to the Coos County Jail where he was lodged on $15,000.00 bail.”
