Assault on Minor
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. “On October 21, 2013 at about 5:02 PM the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a minor child having been assaulted in the Lakeside area. The child had been part of a group of juveniles playing football at the City Park. The game became rough and one child was elbowed in the face by another during one of the plays in the game. That injured child, a 10 year old Lakeside boy went to his home and told his father. The father, Mark Andrew Colton, 34 YOA of Lakeside, went to the playing field demanding to know who had hit his son. When a juvenile, who had NOT been the one that hit his son spoke, Mr. Colton reportedly struck him in the temple, causing him to lose consciousness. The juvenile, a 13 year old Lakeside boy was transported to Bay Area Hospital by Lower Umpqua Ambulance where he was treated for a brain injury, a concussion. After further investigation Mark Colton was arrested on November 23, 2013 at about 5:30 PM in lakeside and transported to the Coos County Jail on charges of Assault in the Second Degree. He is being held on $25,000 bail.”
