News release Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On October 11, 2016, at 11:42 AM, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Bandon Police Department and Bandon Fire Department responded to a non-injury boat accident on the beach of the south jetty of the coquille river in Bandon, Oregon. David Brinsko of Reno Nevada was the single occupant and operator of the boat, a 16 foot Jetcraft. David had been across the bar fishing and crabbing. When attempting to come back in the bar, the fog was so thick that he was unable to visually see the mouth of the Coquille River bar. David was coming back in under GPS navigation however the screen was zoomed too far out and he missed the entrance by a couple of hundred yards to the south. David realized he was inside the surf zone of the beach and started taking breaker waves over the bow and stern. David drove the boat straight up onto the beach to avoid being rolled in the surf. He was not injured. Mast brothers towing retrieved the boat with their four-wheel-drive tow truck.
