West Coast commercial crab producers will reportedly meet today, Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, through a coast-wide conference call to discuss a dispute over the opening price paid for commercially caught Dungeness Crab.  The commercial season normally begins Dec. 1st; however, deadly toxins detected in the meat shoved the start date back with different portions of the West Coast opening over others.  Processors initially offered $3 lb., but that dropped to $2.75 when more of the coast opened to fishing.  Crab fishermen have been reportedly holding out for a higher price.
