News release CCSO.  Narrative: On December 27, 2016, at about 1315 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies and Myrtle Point Fire and Ambulance were dispatched to mile post 4 on Highway 242, (Powers Hwy), near the community of Broadbent, outside of Myrtle Point, for a single vehicle injury accident, with entrapment. The operator of the vehicle, Peggy Fors, was uninjured. The female passenger, Lisa Bohanan had severe injuries and was trapped in the passenger’s seat. Fire personnel had to use the jaws of life to extricate the passenger. Due to injuries of the passenger, the Coos County Crash Team was activated and responded. Ms. Fors told deputies she swerved to miss a deer in the road and went into a ditch and struck a tree. While speaking with Fors, Deputies observed signs impairment and she consented to Field Sobriety Tests. At the conclusion of the tests, deputies arrested Fors for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. Fors’ driving status was also suspended at the misdemeanor level. Fors was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail for the above listed charges. At the jail, Fors provided a breath sample of .00% BAC. Deputies requested a Drug Recognition Expert to perform an evaluation on Fors. The passenger sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. As of this writing the passenger had sustained a broken arm, broken leg and severe facial and head injuries. Deputies were assisted in the investigation by Coquille Police, Oregon State Police and Myrtle Point Police.  The crash is still under Investigation by members of the Coos County Crash Team.
