Disorderly Conduct, April 8

News release Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 4/5/2016 a Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a report of a man in the middle of Highway 42S walking on the fogline and waving his arms at traffic. The Deputy arrived and located the man, David Jenkins, age 38, standing on the centerline near mile marker 12.5 of Highway 42S. He was swinging a belt with a large pewter buckle in circles above his head and had effectively shut down Highway 42S for passing cars. Jenkins immediately became combative and refused the Deputies instructions to stay out of the roadway. He was taken into custody only after the Deputy drew his Tazer and pointed at Jenkins. After he was taken into custody and placed into handcuffs Jenkins refused to cooperate, attempted to flee and attempted to overcome the Deputies force in effecting the arrest. Because of the traffic, the blind corner and the degree of Jenkins impaired state and combative behavior additional Deputies were dispatched to assist as was a Coquille Police Officer. David Jenkins was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was lodged on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.
