Double Murder Jefferson Co., Feb. 29

Police are no longer seeking Mitchell MORRIS as he was located at approximately 11:20AM in Salem and arrested. The vehicle of interest was also located. This is an ongoing investigation. More information will be released when it becomes available. ***End Update*** Previous Release: The Oregon State Police and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect from a shooting that occurred in Jefferson County on Friday night. On February 26, 2016 at about 6:49PM, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a shooting that had just occurred at 9021 SW Sand Ridge Road in Crooked River Ranch. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office along with the Oregon State Police responded to the scene and found two adults deceased inside the residence. A person in the area who had heard the gunshots witnessed a vehicle leaving the area. Law enforcement conducted an extensive search of the area as well as throughout central Oregon and expanding into the Willamette Valley area. The suspect in the shooting is Mitchell Julio MORRIS, age 20, of Crooked River Ranch. He is a white male and described as five foot three, 150 pounds, and has black hair. MORRIS is believed to be driving a 1989 Chevrolet S-10 pickup. It is an extended cab and is red over black. The attached photo is an actual photo of the pickup but it no longer has the canopy. The Oregon license plate is 689EZV. MORRIS is from the Polk County area and believed to have traveled there after the shooting. MORRIS is to be considered armed and dangerous. The victims’ identities are being withheld at this time to ensure the families have been notified. This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available.
