Oregon State Police (OSP) is investigating a serious injury pedestrian-involved traffic crash that occurred Sunday morning on Highway 42 near Winston in Douglas County. According to Sergeant Ken Terry, on February 16, 2014 at approximately 9:22 a.m., SEAN MOYLAN, age 27, was walking with his dog eastbound on the westbound shoulder of Highway 42 near milepost 74. MOYLAN reportedly let go of the dog leash and moved into the westbound lanes in front of a commercial truck. The driver of the commercial truck, MATTHEW MEYER, age 42, from St. Louis, Missouri, slowed and tried to avoid the pedestrian but stuck him in the left westbound lane. MOYLAN was transported by air ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield with serious injuries. He is reported to have a past California address. The dog was not struck and was taken by Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to a local animal shelter. MEYER was not injured and is cooperating with investigating troopers.
