On 12/04/2016 at about 1344 hours, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an injury crash at milepost 1.5 on Olive Barber Road in Coos Bay, Oregon.  The crash was reported to be a single vehicle rollover.   Upon deputies arrival, the vehicle, a 2002 Mercedes 4 door was resting on its top.  The driver, Jonah Butera age 45, was out of the vehicle, and suffered minor injuries in the crash. The investigation determined the vehicle left the roadway and stuck several boulders on the side of the road, causing the vehicle to roll over.  It was also determined the driver had been driving under the influence of intoxicants.  Jonah Butera was taken into custody and transported to the Coos County Jail where he provided a breath sample indicating his blood alcohol content was .35, over four times the legal limit. Mr. Butera was cited for DUII and released to his father.  It was recommended that Mr. Butera seek medical attention due to his high blood alcohol content, even though he refused medical attention at the scene. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Millington Fire Department, Bay Cities Ambulance, and Mast Brothers Towing at the scene.
