DUII on ODNRA, July 25

News release CCSO.  On July 21, 2017, while patrolling the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy encountered a white Subaru SUV which had crashed into the seawall after missing the sand road entrance on Horsfall Beach at the Bull Run Beach Road.  The investigation revealed that David Wayne Clark had been operating the vehicle. Mr. Clark was visibly intoxicated and belligerent towards Sheriff’s Deputies and bystanders. Based upon the investigation, Mr. Clark was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving and Recklessly Endangering his three passengers.  While attempting to place Mr. Clark under arrest, he fought against deputies efforts to take him into custody.  Mr. Clark will additionally be referred to the Coos County District Attorney’s Office for Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct II.  Alcohol was found inside of Clark’s vehicle and he was cited for Open Container Alcohol and the county ordinance for Alcohol Ban in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Mr. Clark was given an opportunity to provide a breath sample, but refused to submit to a breath test.  A search warrant was applied for and granted by the court to draw Mr. Clark’s blood and a blood sample was obtained.  Mr. Clark was cited for Fail to Provide a Breath Test.  The results of the blood sample are pending analysis by the Oregon State Police Crime Lab.
