On September 1, 2018 at approximately 9:50 PM, a Lincoln City Police Officer who was working DUII enforcement, attempted to stop a motorist for a lighting violation in the 800 block of S Hwy 101 near the Mazatlán Restaurant. The vehicle attempted to elude the Officer by driving through the parking lot of the restaurant and then south on Highway 101 at speeds of approximately 60 miles per hour. The vehicle eventually stopped in the area of SW Fleet and South Highway 101. The vehicle, a maroon 1987 Toyota Camry was determined to have been stolen out of the Salem area. The driver of the vehicle, a female juvenile, was arrested for Eluding, Reckless Driving, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and on a Felony Warrant issued out of Marion County. A male juvenile passenger was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and another female juvenile passenger was also arrested on a Felony Warrant issued out of Marion County. All three juveniles were transported to the Lincoln County Juvenile Detention facility and lodged there. Two other juvenile passengers in the vehicle were released after being interviewed. No one was injured during the incident and there was no property damage.
