Earlier Ross Inlet Homicide Update, Aug. 18

News release from Coos Co. DA R. Paul Frasier, August 17, 2016 (11:04 a.m.). As of this morning, Wednesday, Aug. 17, the person of interest in this case, Lucas Mark Perkins, has not been located. Yesterday we indicated that Lucas Perkins was believed to be in the Seattle area. This was based upon information received from financial institutions that a bank card of Richard Perkins was used in area of Northgate Way in Seattle on Sunday and Monday. While the card was used, we have not confirmed who actually used the card. Further, we have discovered that a person using the name of Lucas Perkins was contacted by Port of Seattle Police at Sea-Tac International Airport on Saturday (the day before the body was found). However, it has not been confirmed that the person contacted was the person of interest in this case. We understand that there have been reports in the Seattle media that Lucas Perkins has been “spotted” in the Seattle area. As far as we know, there have been no confirmed sightings of the person of interest in this case. Again anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Coos County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement officers found the body of 64-year old Richard Perkins in the front yard of his residennce on Ross Inlet Road, east of Coos Bay, Sunday morning, Aug. 14. According to the DA, he died of Blunt Force Trauma. His nephew, Lucas Perkins, was identified early as a “Person of Interest” in the investigation. He lived with his uncle.
