South Coast residents have the opportunity to hear from renowned economists about local, state and national economic conditions as well as from local leaders about projects of importance to the local economy at the 24th Annual Economic Outlook Forum scheduled for Friday, December 9, at The Mill Casino-Hotel. The 6:45 to 11:00 am breakfast conference is presented by the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, Knife River Materials and Banner Bank, in cooperation with 30 sponsoring businesses and organizations. The conference features John Mitchell, former U.S. Bank Chief Economist, who will provide the keynote address on the national and regional picture. John has the unique talent of making economics both interesting and entertaining. Guy Tauer & Annette Shelton-Tiderman, economists from the Oregon Employment Department, will present an overview of the Coos County and Coos Bay Area economy. Our local project updates will focus on Real Estate trends since the recession with Herb Yussim, Mark Mattecheck discussing Transitional generations in family owned businesses and Connie Stopher of SCDC on the REEF project. Also highlighted in our program will be “Home Grown Business Successes” River Bend Jerseys and the Coquille Tribal forest management.
