Electrical Shock in Curry Co., Dec. 6

Oregon State Police (OSP) and Curry County Sheriff’s Office are continuing the investigation into an early Thursday morning incident following a single vehicle traffic crash along Highway 101 near Harbor in Curry County. A Brookings-area man was taken to a Portland hospital for injuries sustained after the crash. On December 5, 2013 at approximately 1:24 a.m., a Nissan Sentra driven by JAMES F. ANDERSON, age 53, from Brookings, was involved in a single vehicle traffic crash on Highway 101 at Floral Hill Drive in Harbor. After the collision, ANDERSON fled the scene on foot into a nearby trailer park where he climbed a power pole and received an electrical shock causing him to fall to the ground. An OSP trooper, a Curry County deputy and local medical responders got to the scene where they encountered ANDERSON and restrained him. ANDERSON was transported by air ambulance to Oregon Health & Science University for treatment of serious injuries including those sustained when he contacted the electrical wires and fell to the ground. Preliminary investigation indicates drugs, including methamphetamine, are being investigated as possible contributing factors. Charges are pending related to this investigation.
