On November 5, 2015, OSP Fish and Wildlife Division Troopers responded the report of a wasted bull elk that was found on Menasha Timber property on Shutter Creek Road in rural North Bend. Upon arrival a 4×5 bull elk was located in an area visible from the roadway. Investigation revealed that the bull elk was killed on November 4 or early on November 5, 2015. The only thing taken from the bull elk were both backstraps. The right hindquarter was most of the way skinned out but was not taken. The remainder of the meat was left to waste. Elk season for this area does not open until November 14, 2015. A $500 reward offered by the Oregon Hunters Association Turn in Poachers (TIP) fund is being offered in this case for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
