News release City of Coos Bay. There will be intermittent lane closures on Empire Blvd. until the middle of November, and flaggers will provide traffic control as needed. Please watch for detour signs. Motorists should watch for construction vehicles and traffic control devices on shoulders. Also watch for bumps and uneven pavement through the work zone. This project will upgrade a one-mile section of Empire Blvd. with new drainage, sidewalks, lighting, and paving. There is no construction planned for the winter months; but the construction on this project will resume in spring 2017.
