Join Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum and Wave Business on December 9 to hear the stories of people and planes that have contributed to aviation and aerospace history! The Historical Perspectives Kiosk is an exhibit presenting Museum visitors with video stories from various Oregonians related to aviation, space, military, or an era represented at the Museum. These varied and unique video interviews are the cornerstone of the Museum’s “I Have a Story” program, which documents first-person experiences for historical and educational purposes. Made with the participation of students from McMinnville High School, video subjects are interviewed, filmed, and the footage edited by students with the assistance of Museum staff in a unique intergenerational exchange. This family-friendly event begins at 10am on Saturday, December 9, and runs until 4pm. Activities include: Historical figures portrayed by actors telling first-person stories (Slated to appear: Amelia Earhart, Wilbur Wright, Apollo 13 astronaut James Lovell & more); personal photo opportunities with these “historical figures;” VIP Access to the SR-71 Blackbird, Lear 25, & F-84 Thunderjet–visitors are invited to get up-close to these planes while they learn about their place in aviation history; Kids Activity Area in the Space Museum — kids tell their story and have it put on display; and wine tasting featuring Spruce Goose Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. “We are excited to present the Historical Perspectives project to the public! Many local students, area residents and Museum staff worked together to produce an exhibit that will continue to generate interesting stories for visitors long into the future, thanks to the generosity of Wave Business,” said Museum Special Projects/Business Development Director Mike Videll. Admission for this event is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for youth 5-16. Children under 5 years of age, Museum Members and Wave Business employees are free. (Admission price does not include movie, as the Museum Theater is closed 12/9/17 for another event).
