In response to the Blackberry Arts Festival taking place in downtown Coos Bay, Coos Art Museum will be expanding its open hours on Saturday August 22 and open on Sunday August 23. On Saturday the Museum will be open from 10am to 4pm and on Sunday from 1pm to 4pm to accommodate festival participants. Coos Art Museum is currently featuring five wonderful art exhibitions that should be of interest to festival goers. These include the 22nd Annual Maritime Art Exhibition; Featured Maritime Artist – Frank Gaffney; Beach “Seen” works by Ken Ayers, Don Jenson and Valerie Tucker; Communities Disaster and Change – Alaskan art inspired by the 1964 Good Friday Earthquake, and Poet’s Eye – Photography by Janise Ayers. As always the Steve Prefontaine Memorial Gallery will be open for viewing. If you have not been by the Museum recently this is an excellent time to visit and see an outstanding selection of nationally recognized art.
