Fertilize Your Mind Cancelled, March 16

As of March 13, 2020, the OSU Master Gardener annual garden seminar Fertilize Your Mind event that was scheduled for April 4, 2020 at The Mill Casino-Hotel has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled at this time due to COVID-19 concerns. At this time, we are also suspending OSU Extension food preservation classes and all of the trainings associated with these. Locally this includes the Master Food Preserver Pickling workshop scheduled for March 14, 2020 and the Dehydration & Smoking workshop scheduled for April 11, 2020 at the Coos County Extension Office in Myrtle Point. Our Master Food Preserving volunteer training that was slated to start April 16th will also be postponed until it is deemed appropriate to start. While the university’s goal is to continue to deliver education and outreach with minimal disruption, we are also mindful of our role in keeping Oregonians healthy by helping prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19. We are carefully considering all events and activities, and making decisions based on local public health conditions and recommendations from county health departments, the Oregon Health Authority and the university. We are monitoring the public health situation closely and will resume events and trainings when it is safe to do so. We encourage everyone to stay informed of the COVID-19 situation by regularly reviewing information from the CDC, Oregon Health Authority, and American Public Health Association.
