Fire Season Still In Effect – Debris Burning Prohibited, Sept. 8

Lands protected by Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) are still in fire season and debris burning is prohibited during fire season. Fuel conditions are dry and wildfire is still a threat. Debris burning is a significant cause of wildfires in southern Oregon. It only takes about an hour of sunshine to dry out cured grasses and fine fuels from the morning dew or a short rain shower to make these fuels available for fire to start and spread. CFPA has responded to several illegal debris burns in the last week. Fire Wardens will be issuing citations for debris burning.
